Hope Arising Counselling
Becci Robinson | Hertfordshire | UK
About me
Hi, I’m Becci and I have always loved working and journeying with people. I have worked as a Midwife for seventeen years. Drawing from my extensive experience in supporting individuals through the transformative journey of childbirth, I bring a unique perspective to counselling that emphasizes the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing.
As well as working in private practice, I volunteer for a counselling charity supporting women facing pregnancy loss and child separation. I also have a diploma in working with young people and adolescence and have experience working in a sixth form college.
Why Counselling?
Sometimes we may feel stuck or knocked down by life’s challenges. It is normal to need help when we face difficulties, but it’s sometimes hard to know where to turn. Counselling is a collaborative process between a trained counsellor and an individual. It provides a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in order to gain insight, develop coping strategies, and make positive changes.
Through active listening, empathy, and nonjudgmental support, I can encourage and navigate clients through difficult emotions, relationships, trauma, losses and life transitions. I can work with you to help you understand yourself and others better, benefiting you, your work, your family and relationships. Counselling can promote personal growth and resilience. Further benefits of counselling can include improved self-awareness, enhanced communication skills, better stress management, increased self-esteem, and the ability to make healthier choices.
I am not here to judge. I will come alongside you and walk in the pain and confusion, to empower you to move forward.
How I work
I am an integrative counsellor, meaning I incorporate a blend of techniques and theories from a range of modalities such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy and humanistic therapies including internal family systems (IFS). I create a customized and holistic approach, tailored to each client's needs as you are unique!
I am trained in the Waverley Integrative framework and I see clients holistically, as physical, rational, emotional, volitional and spiritual beings, worthy of compassion and dignity.
I believe psychoeducation is important to help us understand why we do what we do and help give meaning to our experiences. I love working creatively if the client wishes. Some people tell their stories through talking, some drawing, or creative play.
I work in a diversity affirming way, respecting clients of all cultural and social backgrounds, from all faiths and of non. I work ethically under the guidance of the BACP and ACC.
I have expertise working with anxiety, addictions, pregnancy and child loss, bereavement, anger management, self-esteem/confidence, relationships and all types of abuse. I also specialise in young adults 16+.
Please feel free to phone or email me and I will happily arrange a free 20 minute chat to see if we would be a good fit and to ensure I am the best person to help you. I believe that the counselling process is a partnership and it is a privilege to accompany clients along their journey.

£50 a session, to be paid on the same day. I accept BACS transfer or cash payment.
I have limited availability for concessions for students and those on a low income. Please do enquire if this is required.
-
I don’t ask you to commit to a number of sessions. I have both short term and long term clients. At the start of our time together, we can decide how many to begin with and review as we go depending on your needs.
-
I offer online, telephone or face to face sessions all of which are 50 minutes. I work Monday – Friday, 9 – 5pm, I currently don’t work evenings.
Clients usually come to counselling weekly, the same time each week with some flexibility with mutual agreement. Clients may move to fortnightly sessions towards the end of their journey if this feels right for them.
The first session is an informal assessment where information is gathered to find out more about the client’s background and presenting issues to explore the best way in which we can work together towards your goals for counselling.
-
No most clients self-refer. Your GP does not need to be informed that you are attending counselling. However, I do ask for contact details including a medical contact number for emergency purposes only.
-
Sessions are confidential one to one sessions between the counsellor and client. If you have children, you will need to make childcare arrangements.
If a family member or friend is driving you to the session, they are welcome to wait in their car or there is a café and two local parks nearby.
